Ernie, Tinker and I drove up to the NOWDA Group Specialty show in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada where there are usually a number of Alaskan Malamutes entered and the 'Alaskan Malamute' people up here are great! Tinker has not been shown much but is now pretty much grown up. She lost significant amounts of her coat unfortunately out the window on the 16 hour drive up! Oh well ... Ernie, who was nine years in February, was entered in his first show - via the new CKC altered class. He was also entered in the veteran sweepstakes (since he's old enough for that, too). Ernie received beautiful ribbons for his 'sweepstakes' win (he was the only male in that class) BUT also had TWO group firsts in the altered class regular CKC show because there were other breeds entered!! Each win was quite special! He wasn't entered in the third show as Tinker was a little ill (from eating umm, garbage as I later discovered) and so we left a few hours early. When we got home, Ernie was a little ill - but I have no idea what he ate. Leave it to a Malamute to eat something rotten! Both were fine in a few days. Now Ernie has points toward his CKC Altered Championship :)
